Car Audio System Spotlight: Kenwood’s XR-W10F and XR-W12F Excelon Subwoofers
Following on the heels of the highly successful XW series of thin car subwoofers, the folks at Kenwood have introduced 2 new models that provide even greater performance, while still staying with the successful slim basket designs.

The engineers at Kenwood designed the XR subwoofers to handle more power (1200-1500 Watts) than the XW series (1000-1400 Watts) with improved sonic performance, thanks to an over-sized diaphragm (cone) which is 25% larger than its predecessor. Other improvements include an “Aero shaped” basket design and “dual venting” which increases cooling of the motor structure and allows for greater power handling capacity. All this performance while still maintaining only a 3 7/16” mounting depth!

Returning is the carbon glass fiber honeycomb woofer which provides high stability and accurate bass production. Frequency response ranges from 38Hz-200Hz for the 12 inch to 41Hz-200Hz on the 10 inch. Both woofers can be protected with a heavy duty mesh grille which is available separately.
